Seth Hallem, President, CEO/Chairman and Co-Founder: Seth founded Coverity in 2002 and has played a key role in managing its growth from start-up to enterprise software company status. Prior to founding Coverity, Seth was one of the principal architects of the groundbreaking source code analysis technology developed at the Stanford Computer Science Laboratory upon which Coverity's solution is based. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Ben Chelf, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder: Before he co-founded Coverity, Ben was a founding member of the Stanford Computer Science Laboratory team that architected and developed Coverity's underlying technology. He is one of the world’s leading experts on the commercial use of static source code analysis. In his role at Coverity, Ben works with organizations such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cisco, Symantec, and IBM to improve the security and quality of software globally. He holds an M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. Ben frequently provides expert insight into software security and quality to the press, public audiences, and in published writings.
Andy Chou, Ph.D., Chief Scientist and Co-Founder: Andy is responsible for advancing source code analysis technology at Coverity as well as furthering the state-of-the-art in software quality and security industrywide. Prior to co-founding Coverity, Andy was instrumental in developing the core intellectual property behind the Coverity platform. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
Carol MacKinlay, Vice President of Human Resources: Carol runs Human Resources for Coverity. She is the former Vice President of Worldwide Human Resources for both Aliph/Jawbone and Plantronics – manufacturers of wireless headsets – and for CodeGear, the developer tools group that represented the original product base for Borland. Ms. MacKinlay was a strategic, financial and operations consultant – both in private practice and as a member of a major consulting firm. She has held executive and analytic positions for Providian Financial, Blue Cross of California, and the City of San Jose. She has been a Board member for Junior Achievement, the Santa Cruz County Business Council, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Santa Cruz Workforce Investment Board. She has a BA in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley, and a MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business in Venture Management.
Dave Peterson, Chief Marketing Officer: Dave leads all areas of marketing, product management, and corporate communications. He has previously served as VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Mercury Interactive, one of the world’s largest enterprise software companies, which was acquired by HP in 2007. He has also served as CMO and other leadership positions at Aggregate Knowledge, Cybrant, and Vantive Corporation.
Mona Sabet, Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary: Mona has oversight and management responsibility for all legal and regulatory matters for Coverity worldwide. Mona joined Coverity from Cadence Design Systems where she was VP, Associate General Counsel. Mona holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a law degree from the University of Western Ontario. Mona is an active member of the Licensing Executive Society (LES) and the LES Women in Licensing Committee, and speaks frequently on the topics of technology transactions.
George Swan, Ph.D., Vice President of Engineering: George’s background spans 18 years of engineering management in software product development. Prior to joining Coverity, George was the Vice President of Engineering at LogicVision Inc. Prior to LogicVision, he held a series of executive-level positions, including VP of Product Development at Barcelona Design, VP of Software Engineering at Mobileum, and VP of Software Engineering at Synopsys. George has a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from The Robert Gordon University in Scotland, UK.
Bertrand Yansouni, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations: Prior to joining Coverity, Yansouni served as Vice President of Channels for Riverbed (NASDAQ: RVBD), a leading company in the WAN acceleration space that had one of the most successful IPOs of 2006. Prior to Riverbed, Mr. Yansouni was part of VMware’s North America sales leadership team that helped the company grow company revenue from $30 million to $350 million during his tenure. Mr. Yansouni has also held sales management positions at Portera, Informix, and IBM Corporation. Yansouni holds a B.S.I.E from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford GSB.
Jeff Van Zanten, Chief Financial Officer: Jeff manages Finance, Human Resources, IT and Operations at Coverity. Prior to Coverity, Jeff was the CFO of Symphony Services, a global leader in outsourced R&D and the CFO of Symphony Technology Group, a private equity firm. He has also held CFO and other executive-level positions with Scient Corporation, Purple Moon Software and Advent Software. His background includes positions at Barclays Global Advisors and Coopers and Lybrand and he has been a leader in two successful IPO's, numerous secondary offerings and many private placements. He is a CPA as well as a Registered Investment Advisor and holds NASD Series 7 and Series 63.
