Coverity Reaches 100th Customer Milestone
Global semi-conductor firm ARM joins HP, IBM, Intel, and Extreme
Networks in deploying Coverity's source code analysis to improve software quality
SAN FRANCISCO, March 13, 2006 – Coverity, Inc., makers of the world’s most advanced and scalable source code analysis solution, today announced that the company has reached a major milestone in signing up ARM as their 100th customer. ARM, a world leader in semiconductor intellectually property, designs the microprocessor intellectual property (IP) at the foundation of some of the world's most widely-used electronic systems. Coverity will provide ARM the ability to run comprehensive defect checks for its tools solutions.
"The research on static source code analysis we began at Stanford University has been validated in the commercial marketplace with 100 companies now producing better software with our automated system,” said Seth Hallem, CEO of Coverity. “I want to thank all our customers in helping us to nearly triple our revenue and earn record profits in 2005.”
"Coverity’s impressive growth in the past year is proof that software makers in all areas are finally making code quality a high priority," said Chris Lanfear, director of VDC’s Embedded Software Group. "Simple testing and code review can’t keep up with the growing complexity of software, and this is particularly true with embedded systems like those in the defense and automotive industries."
“ARM® RealView® tools are used by our Partners to create advanced digital products," said David Rusling, Director of Technology, Development Systems for ARM. "We deliver IP creation and deployment products on aggressive schedules and need a reliable solution that can scan very large and complex code bases efficiently and with a low false positive rate; Coverity’s solution is just that: a no-nonsense code checker that can handle a mountain of code and get results without wasting our engineers’ valuable time.”
“Coverity’s source code analysis is now used in companies representing 95% of the Electronic Design Automation market, 80% of the networking market, 80% of the semi-conductor market, and 75% of the security software market,” said Ben Chelf, CTO for Coverity. “In 2005, Coverity customers also proved the value of focusing on software quality in the aerospace, defense, automotive and medical device industries. In 2006, the market looks even stronger with a rapid increase in demand from international markets as well as in North America.”
In Europe, over a dozen large customers including France Telecom and Symbian have already licensed Coverity’s technology. In Asia, Samsung and Mitsubishi have licensed Coverity’s technology as well as several other leading companies in the automotive and consumer electronics industries.
